dogs are crap at pushups

I've just uploaded a new movie, it's just for you, cupcake.

I've been at the Melbourne International Animation Festival (MIAF) for the past week and boy are my eyes tired. Saw some awesome films, and interestingly a hell of a lot of it was created by hand, without the cheaty computer whatchamacallit stuff.

The highlight for me was a new film by Estonia's master of animation Priit Parn.
Here's one of his other films, in three parts. It's long and highly surreal, but god damn is it good!

Oh, and yesterday I saw a film on here that rivals anything I saw at the festival.

estonian and eastern european animation in general is always fascinating, if only for the difference in technique and theory... they're so much less strict in their methodology than western and japanese animators, although maybe it only appears that way...

I exported the animation to illustrator as an image in layers, which coverts the colours to CMYK and stuffs them up so that you have to convert it back to RGB then recolour them, then used the rasterize effect to make them pixelated, then expanded their appearance which makes them into bitmap images, then used livetrace to covert it back to vectors again. I did this four times for each animated loop, which was tedious and took about half a day, then brought them back into flash and added them where I wanted them to appear.

My parents migrated from England to Australia, I will ask them what their pull factor was, unless there was a push factor... that'd be awkward.

AlmightyHans'seses new movie is amazing, its so in tune with spaghetti westerns i love, although incredibly reduced into action format at less significant sweaty squints. always good, but still its great to have mini-format.

how are you able to pixelate things in flash? i keep thinking about how i could use that but i dunno how.

Ah, yes, you read it. It was a fairly annoying process, but once you've done it a few times it's slightly quicker than watching paint dry.
