Animation is the imagination laid bare for all to see, our own personal constructed realities shared with others, story telling in it's purest form, or just a bunch of funny shit drawn for people to laugh their arses off to. It's all good.

That was a really interesting post to read!

I thought it was more interesting to look at than to read :3

Frogs are a subtle way to represent black people without being rascist :3

nah, it's still pretty racist, but that was the style at the time, and you're right in a way, it doesn't seem as bad as say Scrub Me Mumma With a Boogie Beat, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua cUR7bPnMM

I just see a frog this morning

where?

I watched the first one just now.

Wow, that was ridiculous. I enjoyed it.

I love the bit where he gets digested and forced out of that guys body, silly!

I'm on vacation, near a pool, very fat and ugly, but a escape quick if the pikes with a stick

always trying to kill everything with a stick, you are out of control!

What about the Merry Melodies frog?
"Hello, My Lady, Hello My Darling..."

like I'm saying, they're everywhere! I just wanted to show a bunch that most people wouldn't know about. He was huge when I was a kid, he's still well know yeah?

Hey i love these frontPage posts you make it helps me get some ideas going! But back to your post.

I loved the second animations. I like how it shows the black culture in a comical sence without it being insulting.

And the other cartoons where so lovley! Also the third one was just adorible! But i have a question. Where can i find a very good source beside Wikipedia on the history of cartoons? Im really curoius! Since you seem to be very fimiliar with its history.

Most of what I know I've gotten from books, Cartoons. One Hundred Years of Cinema Animation by Giannalberto Bendazzi is a huge reference on animation history, it's a great book to read while looking up the animations of youtube.

Why do dogs lick their gonads?

because they can

You can literally feel the love that went into the animation of Flip the Frog cartoons.

They're fun in a spontanious way that you don't see much these days. It has a lot to do with the small number of people working on the project so that the personality of the animator really shines through. And there weren't as many rules back then, just so long as you completed a certain length of film each week the production company were happy.

In January 2010, it emerged that over 50 children in the US - mostly girls under the age of 10- had been taken to hospital with salmonella poisoning after copying Tiana and kissing frogs.

Including me of course

HILARIOUS!! XD
poor kids have been brainwashed... I always worry about how many kids would run up to hippos because they are always friendly and cuddly in cartoons.

Hello my baby,
hello my honey,
hello my ragtime galllll.

honey, my hearts on fire... I'M BURNING!! 8O

i have pet aquatic frogs on my desk they are inspiring me to make something about them one day

what do they say to you?

a Neat Collection of cartoons - singing frogs also inspired DS

But you know...in animation, they pretty much covered every animal. Even flies.

Back in Japan, they used to show these mini-sodes of a cute kitten named Chi which was taken straight from the newspaper columns.

It's too cute.

frog hop looks fun

fly torture! I hadn't seen any of OffPlanetStudios stuff before, thanks!

That kitty was hilarious, I love the way they show emotions in anime, so much better than in western cartoons.

thats a good point, I hadn't noticed that before.

frogs are controlling our minds

How do you leave out Michigan J Frog?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HAjht PZGDY

because everyone knows Michigan, there's no point showing stuff that everyone's already seen. :)

Don't forget Disneys Princess and The Frog. The WB Frog. Frogger. And Donald Trump.

Don't forget french people

the frog is the most beautiful creature in the world :<>

ribbit :V

RUUUN RUUUUUUN!!!

it's like one of those nightmares where you run and run but don't go anywhere!

Frogs freak me out when they jump unexpectedly. I'm going to have to conquer that fear someday....

Also they're just so damned sneaky.

Whenever I see them in real life they're just sitting there looking all fat and squishy. I always miss out on the exciting stuff.

The frogs from "Swing Wedding" are in this other border-line racist 'toon.

woah, not only does that cross the border-line and sets up shop right in the middle of racist town Arkasas! 8O
