Get yourself a lipsync chart :-)
I didn't mind this, and I don't mind simple animation, as long as everything moves effectively. In yours everything was a little lifeless, and a large part of it was due to the fact that you hadn't used "ease in" or "ease out" in your tweens and the fact that the singers lips didn't move in a fashion remotely related to the lyrics. Lipsync is actually really easy, find yourself a tutorial and you'll see what I mean. You only need 9 mouth shapes to get a perfect lipsync. Send me a private message if you want me to help you out with it.
Other than these technical things, the movie is good, little kids will like it and I'm sure your friend is very happy with it.
Thanks for the constructive criticism. I'll take you up on the lypsync resources. I kind of intentionally didn't bother with too much syncing, because I figured most people, and kids especially, wouldn't notice. In this forum, of course, people do. And, you're right, it would be better if properly synced. As for the easing of tweens, I was more concerned with getting things on and off the screen in time, but I guess that might help some, too. Thanks again.
Kicking a baby is not a punch line...
Well, it can be... If it's funny. This wasn't. It seemed to be building up to something, then nothing really happened. The tweening worked well and the banjo sounds were cool, you have the skills. Make something funny.
The tweening was the downfall. Didn't feel like animating frame by frame. This only took me an hour while I was watching T.V.
And, dude, kicking a baby is ALWAYS a punchline. I will now kick a baby in everything.
I love it David!
The other two reviewers gave you 1 star, that means they liked it just a little bit.
Thanks!!!!
Real Nice
I fucking hate this song... but I love your movie! It has a great style, and a story running through it, with lots of quick edits and complicated pans and things. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!! VIVA LA PANTS!! And I agree, there's no room for political apathy, but lets go the ghandi approach, rather than fight back just stand your ground and let the world see the shit heads for what they really are.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.
NoOOooooOOoo!
Great work! I don't know what else to say. Its a bit rough around the edges, but that's where a lot of it's charm comes from. I loved the animation of the gun shots from the robot's canon!
thanx your review means a lot !!
btw... i saw your "like a duck" animation, that was excelent animation i really liked it.. I'm trying some pure frame by frame myself lately.
Someone needs a hug
You alright there fella... something wrong... got a little rage... hmm? Well... I like george... he's really nice... and he lets me do the stabbing when i'm good...
MAKE MORE!!! I WILL WATCH!!!
hahaha. its not my character. but i may be making more with mcsqueegee soon.
Come up with an Idea first
Here's the best bit of advice I can offer you. Come up with an idea first, then start drawing. Stick figures can be awsome, their not the problem. The problem is you have two characters looking at each other saying, "what do you wanna do?", "I don't know what do you wanna do?" I think if you get an idea of some sort then get stuck in you cant go wrong!
At least it was better than episode 1, but yeah, your generally right. I'll get a better idea next episode.
Put in some more time
This is it's current state is hard to watch, I reckon you should spend time on smoothing things out so we can follow the action, maybe lower the frame rate. Crusty stick figures and ideas off the top of your head are great, it seems like something pis funny i around the corner...
Yeah, I know what you mean. I just noticed too that my frame rate was a bit too high. I guess I'll lower it to 15 fps.
Thanks for the review.
Animation is the imagination laid bare for all to see, our own personal constructed realities shared with others, story telling in it's purest form, or just a bunch of funny shit drawn for people to laugh their arses off to. It's all good.
